I really expect a lot from monster. A pro grade audio company that is even overpriced within that world. So i chose to try this item and it is AWFUL for iphone. The audio quality through my cars stereo is worse than if i just played my music through the iphone’s speakers. AVOID!

This item is basically useless for its audio connect. I tried two different units, thinking the first one surely must have had a cable loose. I was using it with an iPhone 3GS and I have testing all the other pieces and they work perfectly. I liked the design and concept of the extra buttons, but the sound coming through the included AUX connection was mono with heavy static and extremely tinny sound. I gave up trying after the second unit.

The jacks on the new Nano’s make it impossible to plug in a recharger and a mini plug at the same time. The inputs are too close together to fit both plugs. I had no problem plugging my Classic in but the new Nano would not fit the old configuration.

This Monster iCarCharger works great. I have it plugged into the lighter jack in the the console of my 325i BMW. It pokes its head up a little too high but I can close the console compartment without damaging the unit. I do have to be careful, I bet if I slammed the door the unit would snap in half.

Don’t really need the controls on the end of the jack. But other-wise it works and sounds great. Better than plugging from the headphone jack to the aux in. This way I have a clean line level heading to the radio.

Very glad this product was available.

I really like this setup…. I have tried so many other Ipod players/chargers with stands and but the stand never stayed in the upright position. Also I like that the AUX cord is retractable so I do not have cords all over my car.

  5. I too had read the other reviews and didn’t think it could really be all that bad. I was wrong! The sound was terrible! I tried many things, even uncoiling the cord from the unit (didn’t help much). The bottom line is that we shouldn’t have to worry about altering the unit or having to adjust our ipods (iphones). A company like Monster will lose more money in the long run from the bad impression than they will ever make on a poor product. They should pull the units or issue a recall. One of the reasons I caved and bought this is because of the paucity of similar items. I had a similar Kensington unit that turned faulty.

I decided to review this to let others know that Gigaware has a wonderful “aux in” unit that has a noise filter on the aux jack and the sound is clear and crisp. I am very pleased with this purchase.
